Discussions with my guru Mr. A Ramachandran since my days as an MFA student were like planting seeds. My project with IGNCA and Xerox, Palo Alto on the ‘Geet Govinda’ project led me to interact with our miniature art tradition. Here began a life long romance. My trip to Ladakh introduced me to the magical world of murals and Buddhist imagery. My work boldly took from both schools and translated into images that spoke of cycle of life within a spiritual context. While still colourful, many works in this phase were almost aggressive in their strength. This phase was laying a strong foundation for the series of works which I truly believe were my return to the roots.
