Interplay of sikishi boards that split the painting to create added visual dimension pushed me to further experimentation. The mounts and the frames were no longer mere props but an extension of the work itself. Using ‘sanjhi jaali to create my bit of hide and seek and the introduction of the mirror behind the jaali invited engagement and self reflection by the viewer. The concept borrows extensively from the palaces of India and in particular, the ‘Sheesh Mahal’ in the Red Fort of Agra.
